Study: More and more women shoot movies | Gothenburg after

The study looked at the number of directors, screenwriters, producers, and clippers who participated in independent films at major film festivals over the past ten years, and thus concluded that there was a percentage increase in several areas, writes The Wrap.

The proportion of women directors has thus gone from 22% in 2009 to 33%, the highest list to date, 2019, according to the study.

It also shows that women's films tend to have more women in other high positions in film production. 72% of films made by a woman had at least one scriptwriter.

Among the major film productions, the development is not as brilliant, other studies show.

A study conducted by the Stockholm Feminist Film Festival, which reviews all the films shown at Swedish cinema in 2018, shows that 80% of the films are made by men. The same survey also shows that only 17% of the movies broadcast on Netflix in 2018 were made by women.
