STOCKHOLM Although the Social Democrats voted in 2014 for Sweden to have the lowest unemployment rate in the EU, its unemployment rate declined more slowly than in the rest of the EU. According to Magdalena Andersson, it's because "more people are looking for the job market".
Since the last election, Sweden has lost several places in the list of EU countries with the lowest unemployment rate, reports the European Parliament.
In 2014, Sweden ranked 14th on the list, but this year Sweden is in place at 18 with an unemployment rate of 6.5%, not far from the EU average of 6, 7.
On average, Sweden fell a year under the red-green government. This is despite the fact that the Social Democrats went to the elections in 2014 with the aim of making Sweden, by 2020, the lowest unemployment rate in the EU.

According to Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson, the negative trend is due to the fact that "many more people are looking for the job market". But Andersson does not want to answer the question if the goal was wisely chosen.
"I think that as a minister of a transitional government, I will not review the goals of previous governments," Magdalena Andersson told the European Parliament.
The Czech Republic posts a peak of 2.3%, followed by Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Hungary. The highest unemployment rate in the EU reached Greece (19%), followed by Spain, Italy, France and Croatia.
