In week 44, over 300 read-only activities for children and young people will be organized across Sweden. Stock Photography.

Now, the readership begins. A mandate two years after Prime Minister Stefan Löfven announced that the promise of autumn would be renamed is beginning to become more and more valuable.

"It has really been put in place," says Elisabet Reslegård, president and project manager of the Read movement.

In 2016, the government announced that the promise of autumn would be read. The non-profit association Read Movement had then conducted the "Reading Week 44" project with an extensive network of student organizations, book publishers and libraries since 2015.

The goal is simply to become young to read more. The law begins Monday and this year, the activities are more numerous than ever, according to Elisabet Reslegård.

"It is widespread in many places and many people take it and do something.

300 activities

There will be more than 300 activities in the country during the week. Everything from horror-themed tram rides to Gothenburg, from reading festivals at Riddarholmen in Stockholm to the Trelleborg Library.

In addition, the play "Pippi in Rinkeby" was premiered in SR Barnradion and the new interpretation by the author, John Ajvide Lindqvist, from the Bamse series "Nina i snap" will be sold in Pressbyrån stores.

"It's really a cultural law with language as a starting point, it's about reading, writing and writing, it can be computer games, theater and anything that's possible" says Elisabet Reslegård.

New mission

Since 2017, players can apply for Council of Culture funding for promotional activities during school holidays. The Council has been granted a strengthening of SEK 5 million per year by 2020 and in early September, the Environment Party has proposed that the investment be increased to seven. million.

In May 2018, the government instructed the National Agency for Education to strengthen the act in favor of reading in order to define it both as a concept and as a phenomenon. The mission is to be announced by December 18, 2020, but the Swedish National Agency for Education has already led a campaign this year, according to Helena Car, director of the educational unit in question to Skolverket.

Closer to the goal

"The school agency advocates a stimulating reading method of reading throughout the year, which could improve students' reading, even in the respect of the law. During the campaign, we sent teachers schools and recreation centers and discussed existing skills development tools on reading-enhancing work methods, "writes Helena Car in an email to TT.

The Readlove network has no doubt come closer to its goal of replacing the promise of autumn with the reading law, Elisabet Reslegård,

– That's when you do not have to stop. It's like reading a promotion. When you think it's going well, it's time to continue. We are also continuing to develop the network.
