Now the summer has taken place and the royal family is taking every chance to relax and socialize after the turbulent year.

The Crown Prince's Family, Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Mary and the Children Prince Christian, 12, Princess Isabella, Twins Vincent and Princess Josephine, aged 11 and 7, have traditionally chosen to retire Gråsten Castle in South Jutland.

Impressive Parade

Each year, the arrival of the royal family to the castle was a major parade when the traditional style tournament was opened nearby – it happened this year.

Under the sun on Sunday, the Crown Prince family welcomed nearly 300 riders and 100 cyclists who participated in the parade in front of the castle. The atmosphere was delightful and Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary greeted the many visitors

Crown Princess Mary was captured when she thanked and received a flower from a small rider in the parade. The image that caught the most attention is that of Grace Grace, who ran and wanted to join the ceremony.

Tradition since the Middle Ages

The annual parade starts at the Gråsten Riding School and, after hosting the royal family, it continues on the site of the tournament which is held every three weeks. July ends with several days of festivals and activities. The game of torners with rings is a tradition stemming from the associations of medieval runners – and thus organized today. In the modernized form of today, however, it is not as serious as in the past but is organized as an entertainment activity.
