Yesterday revealed to Aftonbladet that a Swedish athlete had been the subject of an investigation for doping offense. Now, the Swedish Athletics Association confirms that it is Meraf Bahta.
The Bahta made three attempts to indicate where it found, which is a necessity for doping controllers to be able to perform unannounced tests, and therefore received three warnings. Fälls Bahta is at risk of closure between 12 and 24 months.
– It's very unfortunate that this has happened. However, we can note that Meraf did not stand aside or deliberately distorted, which is clear when we can all follow his training and competition activities through social media. We now ask that Meraf Bahta be respected in order to prepare for the European Championship in Berlin from 7 to 12 August, said the Swedish Confederation Karin Torneklint in a press release.
The League hopes for a reassessment
It is not yet clear whether Bahta falls when the third warning is still under investigation. The Swedish Friidrottsförbund has also submitted a revision request in the hope that one or more of the warnings will be removed.
– If we can show that it is due to unfortunate circumstances, you can get the Riksidrottsförbundet to eliminate the misses. We work with them, according to what happened, if there is a reasonable reason, said yesterday to SVT Sport Karin Torneklint
An athlete under investigation can participate and the participation of Bahta in the ME is not in danger. It is one of Sweden's biggest leagues in medal jumping at the Berlin European Championships which will run from August 7th to 12th.
Bahta won 5,000 million euros from Zurich's EM four years ago.
