In 2020, Vietnam will be able to organize its first Formula One race and the capital Hanoi.
He reports the newspaper The Straits Times today.
– The city of Hanoi has successfully completed its work to become an official host in April 2020, writes the People's Committee of Hanoi in an invitation to the gala where the message will be published.
So far, only two countries in Southeast Asia have received the honor of hosting the Formula 1 race – Malaysia (up to 2017) and Singapore.
But in 2020, a third country will have the opportunity to present itself in these contexts, namely Vietnam.
Straits Times newspaper and AFP news agency announce today that the race will be held in Hanoi, the capital, along with the other Grand Prix races in the world – Bahrain, China, Singapore, Japan and Abu Dhabi .
The decision to give Vietnam a run will be published at a gala next week, but the invitations to the gala have already filtered.
"Should not be a problem"
That Vietnam received this honorific mission was previously on the wallet. Earlier in October, F1 boss Charlie Whiting had told him that he had gone to Hanoi and was "sure the track would be ready by 2020".
He pointed out that the road would be mainly based on existing roads, but that some parts needed to be built.
"It should not be a problem, based on my previous experiences," says Whiting.
Originally, the race was to run along the scenic Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, near the Old City, but it has now been decided to place it in another part of the city where the roads are wider.
