letters to the editor Rose Mallinger is dead. She was 97 years old. Malling lived during the Holocaust period and lived a long life with the memory of the most systematic cruelty of humanity. On Saturday, she was bullied by the antisemitic bullets Robert Bower. With the words "all Jews must die", she and ten others are killed in a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
The death of Rose Mallinger in all her brutality bears witness to the deep roots of anti-Semitism. Like all that is harmful, it must be fought daily. Otherwise, it becomes fast, spreads and kills all life. When the gates of the concentration camp were opened and the extinction of Jews, Romans and HBTQs appeared in the light, leaders around the world never said more.
However, in recent years, the memory is short. The Nazis and Islamists have found in the hatred of the Jews a common denominator. In Gothenburg, bombs are fired against the synagogue and in Malmö, Jews are harassed. As part of Almedal week, the Nazis gave way to a woman standing in front of the tent "Sweden-Israel". A number of adult men hit her on the ground and then measured kicks and kicks.
In recent years, moderators have raised the issue of anti-Semitism and spent another year in the budget on efforts to strengthen the protection of vulnerable communities. In his speech delivered in the hometown of Strängnäs in the autumn of 2018, moderate party leader Ulf Kristersson resided in growing anti-Semitism. He stressed that society with all the means at our disposal should fight against anti-Semitism and promised to sustainably strengthen the security support around the Jewish premises. More guards and bullet-proof windows do not eradicate anti-Semitism. But increasing the security of Jews in Sweden is a good start.
At the same time, our entire open democratic society must rise to the challenge of combating anti-Semitism on a daily basis. All children attending the Swedish school will know what has happened.
Nobody can say what was said in 1945 that we did not know anything. At the medial and digital time of today, we know what is going on. Jewish security is created in the short term with increased protection around synagogues, schools and centers. Long-term knowledge is needed to fight the deep roots of anti-Semitism.
