Sweeping the Gophers with a 10-2 win

MINNEAPOLIS – After spending more than 17 years without scoring 10 goals against an opponent, the No. 4 men’s hockey program Gopher made it in back-to-back games this week after a 10-2 win over Arizona State on Friday afternoon at 3M Arena. in Mariucci.

Minnesota (13-3-0 overall, 9-3-0-0-0-0 Big Ten) won their sixth sweep of the season after starting the series with a 10-0 victory Thursday night. The last time Minnesota scored 10 or more goals in a game before this week was a 10-3 victory over Minnesota State on January 17, 2004.

Fourteen Gophers collected points in the series finale, including eight multi-point performances. Blake mclaughlin and Jack Perbix led the way with three points apiece as both forwards contributed two goals and an assist. McLaughlin finished the series with seven points (four goals, three assists).

Minnesota and Arizona State (5-13-2) traded goals in the first period before the home side put some distance between the teams, edging the Sun Devils 3-1 in the second. The third period was all Maroon & Gold as the Gophers scored six times in the final frame.

Jared moe (2-0-0) made 19 saves on 21 shots for Minnesota’s victory while Evan DeBrouwer (3-9-1) suffered loss for Arizona State making 37 saves on 47 shots.

The Gophers beat the Sun Devils 47-21 on the night.

Minnesota returns to the Big Ten next weekend with a two-game streak at Ohio State.
