Clemson and coach Dabo Swinney signed Friday a new agreement worth $ 93 million over 10 years, making it the most important agreement in the history of football university.
Swinney, who has won two national championships with the Tigers, is about to earn the same average salary as Alabama coach Nick Saban. Both are averaging $ 9.3 on their respective transactions.
Swinney, who started his career as head coach at Clemson in 2008, led a remarkable climb for a school that won a national championship in its history before succeeding Tommy Bowden.

Swinney is expected to earn $ 8.25 million in the first two years of the new contract, reaching $ 10 million in 2028, the last year of the contract.

If Swinney were to leave for another collegiate head coach position during the first two years of his contract, the buyout would amount to $ 4 million. But the buyout will increase to $ 6 million if he were to leave for Alabama in the next two years. There is no redemption if he leaves for a job in the NFL.
