Switch ranked greatest handheld of all time by UK newspaper The Guardian

Do you remember the N-Gage? We certainly do. The Cell Phone Meets the Wearable Device was owned by all the rich nerds in schools around the world, but we just could never convince our parents that it was a great idea to let us merge our communication device with this damn Gaming Boy that we spent all of our time on. The joke is on you parents: now everyone has a phone that plays games.

We feel a little justified in finding out that the N-Gage is only 17th on The Guardian’s list of the 20 best portable consoles of all time, well below the Nintendo Switch (which we obviously all own), the DS (that we …. Probably all?) And 3DS (that we should all clean, since it is the best).

The ranking, written by former Guardian Games publisher Keith Stuart (famous Dreamcast fan), puts the Nintendo Switch in pole position, despite being only the fourth best-selling handheld of all time, behind the PSP, the DS and the Game Boy Advance. .

The DS comes just behind the Switch, and the 3DS takes third place, with the Game Boy Advance and SP in fourth and the Game Boy in fifth. It wasn’t until 6th place that a non-Nintendo handheld got a preview: the PlayStation Vita.

The Guardian’s reasoning for putting the Nintendo Switch in the top spot is simple: The merger of the handheld and home console combines the largest parts of all of its old consoles into one.

“The Switch is essentially the culmination of everything Nintendo has tried to do with games since 1989. […] The Switch is more than technology – it has sometimes felt like a friend. “

Do you agree or do you think the 3DS was stolen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
