The festival was hosted by an early concert by jazz singer Sarah McKenzie in St. Louis.

LÖRRACH / SAINT LOUIS. The "Voices" festival began – this time with a concert in France. On Sunday evening, jazz singer Sarah McKenzie was produced at the La Coupole Theater in St. Louis in prologue a good week and a half before the festival began, because in the French city, multi-year vocal partner, no other date Was possible, but that did not spoil the evening, and after the opening of the festival at noon in St. Louis with the first pre-aperitif of the "voices on tour", there was in the evening at La Coupole a beautiful jazz concert. The Australian Sarah McKenzie came to St. Louis with a big band and mostly featured songs from her latest album "Paris In The Rain" (see also "Culture").

The warm, sunny summer evening probably kept it going into the theater, but half of the red plush armchairs in the dome were occupied. Inside, there was air conditioning and not as moist as on the outside, but visitors nevertheless got to the air of the program. Many French voices were heard and unknown faces of Lörrach

"Voices" is seen as a cross-border festival in the border triangle. Because the director of the festival Markus Muffler is a Francophile, he attaches great importance to the fact that the "voices" are not only oriented towards Switzerland, but also towards France. For three years, there has been a very close cooperation with the Théâtre La Coupole, which is important for Muffler, and is not limited to the festival of "voices". In October, a co-production will be staged with the dance project "anobis". If the "voices" of all time in St. Louis will be guests, Markus Muffler can not say. "But in any case, we will always make a mark on the vote card in France," says Markus Muffler. However, he notes that the "voice" concerts in France and the German public come to concerts in Lörrach but fewer French listeners appear. Eléonora Rossi, artistic director of Coupole, emphasizes that she is eager to build a cultural bridge. She understands Burghof and Markus Muffler very well, and the cooperation that has been going on for three years is very important to her. At music and dance events, many visitors from Germany also come to the Dome outside the festival, said Eléonora Rossi: "We are creating more Europe here".
