Meanwhile, in China, the appetite for car buyers has slowed considerably in June due uncertainty surrounding import tariffs. According to data from the previous China Passenger Car Association (PCA), 1.7 million cars and smaller commercial vehicles were sold last month. This is down 3.7% from the same period of the previous year, the largest monthly decline since January 2017. In the first six months, however, the most is still 3.2%. As of July 1, car import tariffs in China generally fall from 25 to 15%. However, due to the trade dispute with the United States, China is increasing tariffs on cars made in the United States to 40%.
