Libyan government defends Coast Guard

The internationally recognized head of the Libyan unity government, Fajis al-Sarradsch, defended his country's coast guard against criticism. The allegations that these people leave behind are false. He called for a comprehensive plan against the refugee crisis.

"These are huge allegations that are not true and have already been clarified by our Coast Guard, saving hundreds of people off Libya every day" Friday.

The country needs more technical and financial support, he said. A Spanish organization had accused the Libyan Coast Guard of leaving behind two women and a child on the high seas.
