(ap / sda) The former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, accused of allegations of sexual assault, is in controversy over the l 39; insurance due to the growing number of lawyer bills. They refuse to pay for his defense financially. The insurance company Chubb and others who had issued liability policies for Weinstein and his production company are demanding in court that the clauses did not explicitly cover allegations of sexual misconduct. They spoke of "deliberately damaging acts".

Weinstein's lawyers argue that insurers must pay for his defense. However, they have unfairly sided with women who have filed numerous lawsuits against him for sexual assault and have tried to evade their obligation to pay. Weinstein and his company had paid a fortune to insurers over the past 25 years.

Weinstein sues insurance

The 66-year-old man filed a counterclaim against Chubb and his affiliates, accusing them of breach of contract. His lawyers demand that civil proceedings be stayed until the criminal law issue is resolved. After counting the insurance companies, 18 lawsuits were filed against Weinstein and his former business since last year alone. We do not know anything about the costs.

More than 75 women – including many actresses and models – accuse Weinstein of misconduct. Weinstein denies all allegations. The cases triggered the MeToo movement, in which many women went to the public with their passion story about the attacks of some important men.
