The phones Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are very similar. The three phones offer a big screen beyond the 6-inch limit and want to link users with a low for high-tech products. But which model is the best and how do the devices really differ? That's what we want to discover together below.
Here's how the devices are cut off during the test
Let's first look at the results of our product tests. Here, the Galaxy Note 9 could yield 8.8 points out of 10 possible. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro have not yet published a detailed report, but only a first evaluation of the devices. Detailed tests that we submit soon. Nevertheless, we can already identify some areas where the Huawei phone is superior to the Samsung smartphone. We would like to discuss it below.
- long life of the battery
- S Pen can be used as a remote control
- a lot of memory
- IP68
- very big and wide
- only Android 8.1 ex works
Super – in every way
Samsung eliminates the Galaxy Note 9 almost all the weaknesses of its predecessor. The mobile phone again offers an above-average battery life, the fingerprint sensor is easier to reach and, thanks to the new remote control function, S Pen sleeves sometimes reach the stylus. Unfortunately, note 9 is still anything but practical. This can improve competition.
Equipment and operation
Differences in overall view
For example, a first comparison with the competition shows that the Mate 20 (Pro) is significantly superior to the Android competition thanks to the Octa-Core Kirin 980 processor developed by Huawei in the 7-nanometer process. Both in the Android multi-core test than in the AnTuTu reference, the Huawei phone outperforms the 9 rating. If you turn on the power mode hidden in the settings, the difference will be a little bigger.
Benchmark / Mobile | Huawei P20 Pro | Huawei Mate 20 Pro | Galaxy Note 9 | Apple iPhone XS Max |
---|---|---|---|---|
GeekBench (single-core) | 1,915 points | 3,232 points | 3,595 points | 4,732 points |
GeekBench (multi-core) | 6,780 points | 9,786 points | 9,071 points | 11,212 points |
AnTuTu | 209,015 points | 271,958 points | 247,814 points | 358,855 points |
In addition, the Mate 20 Pro not only offers higher battery capacity, but charging in less than an hour thanks to the included 40-watt SuperCharge power supply. In contrast, Grade 9 requires just under 110 minutes. Note 9 and the Mate 20 Pro can both be wirelessly charged, but the Mate 20 Pro can also be used as a charging mat for other devices. This feature does not offer the 9th grade. With the standard Mate 20, you need to do without the wireless charge and the SuperCharge feature.
The other benefits of Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro over Note 9 are:
- newer version of Android.
- Triple camera, which covers focal lengths larger than the Galaxy Note 9's dual camera.
- Digital fingerprint sensor on the screen (Pro model only).
This sounds like a clear victory for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but the 9th year also has its merits. So you can simply expand the memory of the device on the Samsung phone via a microSD card, while Huawei adjusts to the Nano memory card developed by the user. The Galaxy Note 9 also has a built-in stylus. On the other hand, Huawei only offers a stylus on the Mate 20X model, not available in Germany. The 9 note screen also does not have any notch.
networked world means
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is technically superior to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, but costs 200 euros more to launch. The difference between Mate 20 and Note 9 is less pronounced. While the mobile Huawei can score here with the fastest chip, the best camera and a more modern Android, Note 9 seduced by its stylus, wireless charging and support for the popular microSD card for the extension of the memory.
