Airbus collects billions of orders at the aerospace fair

The aircraft manufacturer reports orders and intentions for more than 200 machines – but Deutsche Post buys from Boeing [19659005] Farnborough / Hamburg. On Monday, the expected growth was supported by orders. Every two years, the industry meets about 50 kilometers south of the British capital for the Farnborough International Air Show. Traditionally, especially at the beginning of the weeklong salon, there are neat orders. In total, Airbus reported new orders and letters of intent for 228 machines the first day. The total value of orders is about 29.4 billion dollars (25.1 billion euros). However, sumptuous discounts are common.

Most of the orders are again related to the A320 family, which is about half manufactured in Hamburg. For short and medium-haul planes, there are more than 6,000 machines in the order book, with a production of almost ten years. Now, 201 more have been added – almost all come from aircraft financiers. The largest order comes from an anonymous customer. A global lessor has signed a letter of intent to buy 80 A320neo family jets, Airbus said. The machines feature new fuel efficient engines that reduce kerosene demand by at least 15%. The Indian airline Vistara has signed an agreement for the purchase of 13 A320neo. Vistara also plans to buy 37 family machines through a plane financier – so there are 50 of them in total.

25 aircraft of the A320neo series will be posted in Kuwait in the future. Golden Falcon Aviation is the exclusive sponsor of Wataniya Airways based in the Emirate. The order now confirmed follows a letter of intent made a year ago at the Dubai Airshow. Omani budget airline SalamAir has signed an order for six aircraft, five of which must come from leasing companies. The Australian aircraft lender Macquarie has placed a firm order for 20 A320neo aircraft. Irish leasing company Goshawk has ordered Airbus 20 A320neo. However, the Dublin-based company has also placed an order with rival Boeing. The US manufacturer orders 20 machines of the 737MAX series. This is the counterpart of the A320neo. Also the German post ordered in the United States. For the growing division DHL Express 14 Boeing 777 were ordered in the freight variant for $ 4.7 billion. The DAX group has been flying the aircraft since 2009. La Poste has also obtained an option for seven other aircraft.

Airbus was also able to take orders for large aircraft. The Taiwanese airline Starlux wants to build its long-haul fleet with the A350. She ordered 17 of these jets, including twelve in the 1000 long variant. In addition, it was announced that an order issued late June for ten A350s would come from China. Sichuan Airlines is behind the order.
