Android 8: Oreo update for the honor 8 is here

The Huawei subsidiary now also offers the German user a Honor 8 update on Android 8. It is not so easy.

A little later than expected, the smartphone maker Honor launches an update of Android 8 Oreo for the popular model Honor 8. At the Mobile World Congress in February, the Huawei subsidiary had announced that even the relatively old model, but very popular, would receive an update from Oreo. The Honor 8 with a Kirin 950 processor was introduced in September 2016 and shipped with Android 6 (Marshmallow). Oreo is already available for the successors Honor 8 Lite and Honor 8 Pro as well as Honor 9 and Honor 7X

From now on, Android 8 and the internal EMUI 8 interface will be distributed for Honor 8, announced the builder on Tuesday. This is not OTA (Over-the-Air) and with the Android Updater, but only with the Huawei HiSuite tool that exists for PC and Mac. The smartphone must be connected with a USB cable to the computer. HiSuite should then automatically search for an update and download it. With Honor Oreo, Honor 8 must receive among others "improvements in speed".

The fate of the equally successful 6X Honor remains open. The popular mid-range smartphone has been available on the German market since the beginning of 2017 and has been selling well for a long time. In China and India, the middle class apparatus is currently receiving the Oreo update, according to local media reports. To date, there is no clear statement of honor, so Oreo also for the equipment sold here in Germany. The manufacturer always emphasizes that decisions are made from market to market. However, there is no clear no – until now, there may still be a hint of hope.
