Appointment with the Little Prince – Bern

Since 1943, the book has sold 80 million copies. Manufacturers therefore assume that the story of the pilot meeting the Little Prince in the desert is well known. "The story is a world literature, it can not be rewritten," said Sabine Weissinger, head of artistic implementation, Thursday before the dress rehearsal. "But the story can be reinterpreted."

The creators of the Bern show are almost exclusively in image and sound. We speak little – and only in French. The staging follows essentially the chapters of the book. As for the action, the little prince is less concerned, much more concerned about contemplation – the Bernese staging also takes into account this fact.

Half a million visitors

"Rendez-vous Bundesplatz" has developed in the space of eight years and took a fixed date in the calendar of events in Bern. In recent years, more than half a million people have joined the Bundeshaus, but by 2018 the show will be broadcast for five weeks instead of six.

The initiator and producer Brigitte Roux explains the success also with the fact that the event is free. The costs are borne by the sponsors and the city of Bern, which will also be supported this year by the city of Friborg. Finally, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry lived from 1915 to 1917 in Friborg.
"The Little Prince" will be presented in Bern from October 19th to November 24th. Every day, two performances take place at 19:00 and 20:30, from Thursday to Saturday at 21:30. (Cse / SDA)
