Kitzbühel For nearly six years, the Honda CR-V is one of the world's best-selling SUVs. The fifth generation will make a cut in the segment from October.

Honda will no longer offer diesel engines on off-road new – at least in the beginning. The diesel engine plays only a role in Europe – a new diesel unit is therefore profitable from an economic point of view, according to officials. For example, the 1.5 liter VTEC Turbo is the only artist before adding a hybrid engine next year.

Turbocharged petrol engine, compliant with the Euro 6d-Temp standard, is available in two power levels and transmission variants. With the manual transmission the CR-V comes to 173 hp, with the CVT at 193 hp. In addition, the couple is in the only version available as an all-wheel-drive version with 243 Newton meters at 23 Newton meters higher than the hand switch. From the manual switch, maximum torque is already applied at 1900 crankshaft revolutions and front-wheel drive, according to the lighter weight of 100 kilograms, the weaker variant completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km in 9.2 seconds, while that the SUV with the VCT The transmission requires about ten seconds smoothly, while communicating its efforts acoustically in the cockpit. Since the acceleration feels significantly smoother with the six manual speeds. And the consumption is 7.4 liters to 1.2 liters lower than that of the CVT representative. But both variants are not athletes, even if the top speed of 210 or 200 km / h is not a bad value.

The 4.60-meter-long off-piste highlights their cruising merits. The engine is barely audible, the driving style is relaxed and relaxed. The unusual direction slightly too spongy is then less significant. Above all, inmates can enjoy the ride. The driver and front passenger look at a cockpit rated with wooden decors. The driver is informed by a seven-inch touch screen in the middle of the dash via Navi, Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Co. The Navi could appeal better, for which the driver is compensated with the head-up display and the steering wheel heating.

People in the second row enjoy the wheelbase from 3.3 inches to 2.66 meters, which promises a little more knee room if not yet saved by the optional third row. There are two USB sockets on the back for this – for some young people a good reason to buy. The practical family man rather estimates the 561 liters of starting capacity, which can extend to 1756 liters over a loading length of 1830 centimeters.

The new case differs at first glance from its predecessor. The grille has been designed more prominently, with the hood cut-off being more striking and extended by resetting the A-pillar, giving the CR-V a more dynamic look. At the back, whose lines are interrupted by the taillights, the question arises as to whether alcohol is involved. Ready for safety, Honda has equipped the CR-V with modern security systems, so the SUV can also act semi-autonomously and relieve the driver in a traffic jam.

The portfolio is also relieved. Although prices are not yet fixed, it should start at less than 30,000 euros. Fully equipped, the CR-V in the superior Executive variant will cost its 42,000 euros.
