The pop singer Elvis Costello must cancel his European tour because of cancer. He had just learned the diagnosis six weeks ago, said Friday the 63-year-old Briton on his website.

During the telephone conversation, his doctor jokingly told him to start playing the lottery, Costello reported. "He had rarely, if ever, seen a malignant tumor as small but very aggressive." Costello has not revealed the type of cancer he is suffering from. However, the tumor could have been removed in one operation.
Costello must now take a break of three to four weeks. So he decided to disappoint his fans rather than give bad concerts, which could ultimately be a risk to his health, said the musician, and canceled six scheduled concerts of his European tour.
Costello has announced but a new album. He and his group, the Imposters, recorded a "big" record that should be released in October. Costello recently released the album "Wise Up Ghost" in 2013, which he recorded with the hip-hop group The Roots.
