The group sees the recovery.

LAUFENBURG (BZ). For the first time since 2014, electricity sales and the operating result of Energiedienst Holding AG have increased again. In the first half of 2018, the Laufenburg-based group's electricity sales rose 6.9% to 4256 million kilowatt hours. The operating result increased from 27 million to 469 million. The turnaround was "primarily attributable to the network activity", which rose by 28 million euros, says ED in a press release. Customer electricity and gas revenues have developed in opposite directions. They dropped 13 million euros. For commercial customers in Germany, the "margin instead of quantity" principle has led to fewer new contracts. Competitive pressure remains strong and margins are weak.

The capital market has negative effects

Operating profit before interest and taxes (EBIT) decreased by seven in the first half of 2018 compared to the previous year to about 16 million euro . Negative developments in the capital market weighed on results. The EBIT of the operating business units improved by about three million euros compared to the same period of the previous year. However, this could not offset the negative effects of the capital market. Benefits Germany has itself reduced its EBIT by nine million euros

The Upper Rhine and EnAlpin watershed supply has been above average in the first half of 2018 and significantly higher than the same period of the previous year. Electricity production was about 12% higher than the long-term average and even about 22% higher than the same period of the previous year

"With a good result the recovery will take place after the first half of 2018 ". "Unfortunately, we feel a dependence on the capital market, and the development of the Energiedienst Group, from the pure energy supplier to the complete energy service provider, is progressing well." The evolution of the results in the second half of 2018 largely depends on the development of the capital market. Energiedienst expects an average operating profit of 40 to 50 million euros in the second half of the year for the full year 2018.
