He just arrived on the straps, time is running out. Before the beginning of his concert, there are some interviews for the snowboarder and musician of Lausanne. He has not eaten yet. But Pat Burgener (24) seems so relaxed, as he came straight from the yoga class. During the conversation, he eats an apple and takes it, did not come.
Pat Burgener, on snowboard, may fall, during concerts, that people do not arrive. What are you afraid of?
Pat Burgener: I do not consider him a risk. Either happen to people or not. But music helps to reduce the pressure on my sports career
To what extent?
It is liberating to know that there is still something to do when the snowboard stops. Music is my second foot.
You started playing music six years ago, when you had to take a break to play sports because of the humidity. When did this turn out to be serious?
I started playing the guitar when I was five years old. Since the age of 14, the instrument accompanies me on all trips. But I first came to the idea of becoming a musician during this compulsory break. It was then that I started writing my own songs
When it comes to sports, one has to focus on oneself, on the concert and on the audience – what about more difficult?
When I'm in the Hafpipe, it does not matter if 40,000 people are watching or no one. I am so focused that I do not notice the difference. There is interaction in the music, so I have a counterpart. I missed this challenge in sport
Makes solitary elite sports?
It's an egocentric affair. That's what I like music, it connects me to people.
For four years you have been living minimalism. Is your apartment empty?
I do not have an apartment
This seems really minimalist.
I still live with my parents to be flexible. I only have a few things, but still too much. Minimalism makes you free. I can travel and stay spontaneously for as long as I want. Go with the flow. (Berner Zeitung)
