iFixit on the new Apple keyboard: the point of sale, which is a cover-up

July 17, 2018 –
When disassembling the Macbook Pro 2018, iFixit discovered the Apple solution for known keyboard issues. Apple claims only to have produced a quieter keyboard.

The iFixit repair service provider dissected the new Macbook Pro 2018 and discovered something exciting: the problem of crunchy and non-functional keyboards was corrected, it seems. Around each of the switches under the keyboard is a small rubber jacket designed to keep micro-dust particles out of the switch. Apple even holds a patent registered on the protective cover. As a selling point, Apple drives but no protection against dust, but only a quieter strike.

Apple, according to iFixit, told "The Verge" that Macbook keyboard dust issues ("Swiss IT Magazine") were not solved in the new model. Currently running several cases against Apple. It is therefore reasonable to assume that we do not want to say for the moment that there is already a solution, since we should therefore admit a fundamental and known problem. The quietest keyboard is, as iFixit claims, a small camouflage maneuver.
