Pierce Brosnan has become immortal like James Bond. Now he talks about bad singing, expensive art and his memoirs.

M. Brosnan, how did you react when it was clear that there would still be a sequel to "Mamma Mia" ten years later?

Pierce Brosnan: I was delighted. Simply because I knew how much joy our first part brought to the world. It is not without reason that I have asked every time, for ten years, if we can not do a sequel. When the time came, my first question was: is Meryl Streep back? Since it was answered in the affirmative, I then agreed even before I had a scenario in my hands. It was really easy.

Compared to the first time you still sing less in "Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again". Was it your wish?

Brosnan: Haha, no, not that. But I was anything but naughty when I discovered it. The last thing the world needs most is my singing. I liked that a lot. Of course, my lack of musical talent was of course also the point. Of course, this gag did not go unnoticed by me.

Brosnan: Interestingly, we never met. Even though we both live in the same neighborhood in Malibu. I often go past his house, which I even remember how it was built, that's how long I lived there. But personally, I have never met her. That was the case for most of our group members, and there was a real flight into the air the day Cher arrived on the set.

Brosnan: Oh yes, shooting with her was really special. I've been fascinated by the way she simultaneously has this incredible presence and radiates self-confidence, but somehow seems fragile. Where did you just mention your home in Malibu: you never miss your Irish home?

Brosnan: Oh yes, again and again. I'm sorry I did not buy a house in Dalkey years ago. Recently, I filmed a movie nearby and I complained about it. But my wife Keely reminded me that I did not want it when she suggested it. Somehow, I got a little bored in the James Bond years and I did not want to go back to Ireland.

And you, after all these decades in the United States, is still typically Irish?

Brosnan: Whew, what a question. I have no idea. My bad song maybe (laughs)? In any case, my soul is Irish, so Celtic. I love this mysticism that we can feel everywhere in Ireland. And special poetry in the poems of my homeland. I've been writing my memoirs for a few months, so these are things I'm dealing with.

Writing about yourself and thinking about the past – is it fun or do you get a little melancholy from time to time? 19659005] Brosnan: The two do not exclude each other. Because I love melancholy! Is there a moment in your career that you would particularly like to think about?

Brosnan: The most important and exciting phase was certainly when I went to America in the early 1980s and started a new life. Suddenly, I had a feeling of freedom that I had never known before. And I felt that really everything is possible. Unlike England, where we were attracted when I was four, I was no longer an outsider because of Irish.

One of your photos recently changed hands at the Cannes Film Festival, right?

They always do a charity auction and ask if I do not want to make one of my images available. I had a Bob Dylan standing in the studio, so I decided to take it with me. On arrival, he was lost only by an airline mistake, which was not bad at all. I was relieved not to have to introduce my art to all these guests.
