Konami stops the fan remake, but offers a DIY internship

The remake of the horror demo was almost finished, but it will not be released yet. The remake of the horror demo was almost finished, but it will not be released yet.

How We reported that a 17-year-old recreated the demo of PT at Silent Hills exactly in the Unreal Engine 4. An alpha was even playable and only the last animations were missing to complete the fan remake, which had to be 100% of the original demo. However, Konami intervened at the last moment and withdrew the catch.

That's what the young developer Qimsar said about Gamejolt. He had received a phone call from Konami, in which the employee at least very polite and apologetic. He asked Qimsar to take the remake offline for legal reasons, although many people in Konami liked it a lot. Neither he nor any other Konami employee would really have control over such legal matters.

But this legal claim is not the end of the song. The collaborator should have been ecstatic about how the P.T.-Remake in Konami's office had revived the desire to develop real games (instead of Pachinko machines). That's behind more than one joke, is open to question – but at least arises for Qimsar real consequences: We wanted to pay the young developer with an internship with Konami .

Job offer instead of warning

The student is pleased to offer to cooperate with Konami USA, EU and Japan. No wonder, after all, that he continues to go to school and that an internship often leads to a permanent position later. Since he was not even really familiar with the Unreal Engine 4 before the project, it was certainly not bad for his first game.

All the praise, of course, does not change the fact that the PC remake must disappear. As Qimsar points out, it is very complicated legal problems and no one at Konami is to blame. Although it is of course a pity that it is just his project of meeting (after all, there are many others, like the corridors of Smoggy Chips, which are also available at Gamejolt), but otherwise he would never have received this grateful career opportunity.

He even feels some relief because he no longer has to worry about being sued. Even though we will never see the game over, he will keep his promise and finish it for his father. He also seems positively surprised by Konami's reports with the situation, as he would have preferred an impersonal letter-letter. If you are interested in Qimsar's career, you can follow him on Youtube or Twitch.

P.T. was released in 2014 as "Playable Teaser" to announce in the game itself a new Silent Hills by Hideo Kojima. Shortly after, Kojima left the company, Silent Hills was hired and P.T. disappeared for all those who did not download the demo. His tracks are left by PT but still, horror games like Face are style-based, while hard-working modders have rebuilt the demo, for example, in Fallout 4.
