Lukas Gähwiler succeeds Raiffeisen CEO?

Guido Schilling (59) may well have recently called Lukas Gähwiler (53). Schilling is a head hunter – with the mission of finding a successor to Noch Raiffeisen's boss, Patrik Gisel. Industry experts assume that Gähwiler is at the top of Schilling's list

Gähwiler led UBS Switzerland for six years and restored its reputation after the financial crisis. Two years ago, Gähwiler retired from his operational post at the head of UBS Switzerland and now chairs his board of directors. He is also president of the employers' association of banks and sits on the boards of the media company Ringier (which also includes SonntagsBlick) and at the Zurich Opera

The priority is the family

The question is whether Gähwiler wants the job. Because he abandoned his operational tasks to have more time for the family. Hans-Ulrich Meister could thus become Gisel's successor in the ranks. He is a member of the Implenia Board of Directors, having previously held senior management positions with major banks for decades. Insiders say that he is very interested in Raiffeisen work.

Marcus Gygax is nominated third. He is the CEO of Valiant Bank, a large regional bank with national ambitions.
