SMEs can now use the free Microsoft Teams collaboration tool even without an Office 365 subscription. The Redmonders are thus increasing pressure on their competitor Slack.
Microsoft recently introduced a free version of its Collaboration Tools team. SMEs or groups of a company can access the collaboration tool even without an Office 365 subscription. Teams of up to 300 people can be used in the free version.
According to Microsoft, each member has two gigabytes of storage, and the entire team receives ten additional gigabytes. For comparison: In the paid team variant, Microsoft offers a terabyte of memory. Added to this are unlimited chat messages and search queries, as well as audio and video calls for individuals or groups. So that collaborators can work together on Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, the web versions of these Office programs are also included in the free version of the teams.
Microsoft increases pressure on Slack
