Mettmann :
"Mamma Mia" in the outdoor cinema

500 guests are expected at the open-air cinema on the market square. This time, the sequel to the musical Abba, which fits wonderfully with the melodies of mid-summer, plays.

A summer family party on a Greek island – it sounds appealing. "We mainly show movies for the family," says Margarete Papenhoff, "and that fits well in the summer." This refers to the musical Abba "Mamma Mia 2 – We're Back" on Friday, August 10, on the big screen to run on the market and make the evening a summer festival with many famous pieces and Abba successes.

Midsummer – The hour of outdoor cinema in Mettmann: The organizers have also chosen this year an entertaining film, which is shown in the open air on the market square. With Abba's animated melodies, it's "a light and joyous film," says Marion Buschmann, director of the cultural bureau. With Margarete Papenhoff, she organizes for the eleventh time the outdoor cinema, which is already cult.

The first musical Abba was also on the market in 2009. "At that time, there was a lot of wind and we had to hold the canvas," recalls Buschmann. And after the very rainy show last year, both now hope that the summer time continues.

"The air starts at 7 pm, the film starts at 9 pm with twilight, and the first two hours are the most beautiful," says Marion Buschmann. "People bring wine and something to eat, it's like a big buffet, just a good atmosphere. "

"The event is just fun," says Margarete Papenhoff. The audience is very friendly, and many spectators are already accustomed, come every year. "There are families whose base I already know, because the pastor is still a special place," she says with a smile, many tickets being sold in groups at the same time.

Even the year last, in a pouring rain, the market was full. "People were dressed as if they wanted to go fishing," she recalls. The bad weather did not discourage anyone. we can not allow umbrellas, otherwise the view of the canvas is obstructed, "she says, which is why some branches should be cut too.

By the way, the chairs should bring the guests themselves same – which also has something to do with the origins of the outdoor event. "In 2007, we had 100 years of existence," says Papenhoff as the former owner of the World Mirror Cinema Shortly before the shooting of "Samba in Mettmann", she had the idea to give the Met tmannern his first outdoor cinema. "And I thought, if they have the movie, they can bring their own chairs," she said with a smile.

This is not a problem for moviegoers. "Many of them also reserve tables at restaurant market", know the organizers. Everything had worked perfectly and most people could not sit at the tables, which also have movie tickets.

And although the two organizers and their assistants enjoy their work, the outdoor cinema is supposed to take place once a year. "It's supposed to be a special event and we could not let the screen through," they agree.

Tickets are available for only 12 Euros at "Schaufenster" in Mühlenstraße. The presale has already started, a box office does not exist. If you want to have one of the 500 coveted cards, you should not wait too long, the event is usually exhausted quickly. The film has no age limit.
