Paypal's boss, Dan Schulman, commented on the payment service's investment strategy during an interview. Paypal wants to continue investing and has provided a budget.
One to three billion dollars – that's the budget with which Paypal's CEO, Dan Schulmann, wants to make profitable acquisitions every year. This Schulman said in an interview with "Handelsblatt". Paypal has already bought Swedish start-up iZettle for $ 2.2 billion this year and made two small purchases with Simility ($ 120 million) and Hyperwallet ($ 400 million).
"We have a very healthy track record and we will use it to buy more businesses and it is likely that we will continue to buy very specific skills," commented Schulman on Paypal's strategy . Larger purchases are not excluded, says Schulman, "if it fits strategically and financially."
He goes on to say that Paypal had a habit of buying many companies, but today, they could be represented by partnerships. Schulman: "Over the past 18 to 24 months, we have announced 25 major collaborations with technology companies such as Google, Microsoft and Alibaba, as well as with various financial service providers." We look forward to working as neutral platform with other financial service providers and banks.
