LG has filed a patent in which is described a rather curious device that could someday eventually replace the conventional smartphone. It's a stylus that has its own screen and a lot of technology. If such a product actually appears, then only in many years.
The smart pen described in the patent has reported two screens, as reported by GSM Arena. A smaller screen is located on the pen case and reminds a little the second screen of the LG V20 and its predecessor. Here is apparently the time, some application icons for quick access and notifications are displayed. The second screen may well extend out of the device as soon as a button on the stylus is pressed.
A good idea
If the display is unfolded, the functionality should be similar to that of a smartphone screen, so the idea of LG – including the use of application and navigation. The technology itself could be based on a new television company, which also consists of a box from which a rolled screen can come out.
LG imagines that the stylus as a smartphone with different motion sensors, a camera and even Eye tracking is equipped. For phone calls, the company even wants to block the microphone and speakers, a fingerprint sensor should not be missed. The idea that users can apparently pair the stylus with other devices is also interesting. It is the plan that words written with the stylus then appear on the display of a connected device.
So much technology in a small pen? Although LG continues to work on a stylus smartphone, it will be difficult to put the idea into action in the coming years. This is not the least because such a pen does not offer much space for a big battery – or just for the motherboard, the chipset, the sensors, the camera and other components. But the gadget is definitely an interesting idea.
