The multiplayer (free) update for Stardew Valley will be released on August 1, 2018 for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, GOG, and WeGame. The multiplayer mode will be available "later" for PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
At the beginning of a multiplayer adventure game, Robin appears on the scene and asks if they can build up to three utility headsets want. Some decisions can only be made by the main player, eg. when the festivals begin or if you join forces with the big market of Joja. In addition, a marriage between other players should be possible – including custom flirting or "advertising methods".
