The airline Air France-KLM was less able to participate in the growth of the industry in the first half because of the violent strikes in France.
In the first half, the Group had nearly 48.5 million passengers, or 2.8% more than a year ago, as it announced Monday in Paris. However, the increase comes from the Dutch KLM division and the Transavia budget subsidiary. For French brands Air France and Hop! Passenger traffic decreased by 0.7%. About half of Air France-KLM's business is attributable to the two French airlines.
In addition to the one-day strikes at Air France, the cuts in French air traffic control also had a negative impact. In June, the company was spared strikes after workers' representatives called for a new strike. The number of passengers increased by 3.7% from one year to another in the Group. The strike began several months ago. As a result, the previous CEO Jean-Marc Janaillac has resigned. The company is currently managed by a transition team. The search for a successor is underway.
