Despite the two and a half hours duration, the action thriller of American director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is fast and entertaining. McQuarrie, who has already staged the fifth successful part, knows his way with sophisticated scripts. He won the Oscar for his screenplay for "The Usual Suspects" (1995).
There were no stunts in the other parts of "Mission: Impossible" until now. Hunt crosses Paris by car and motorbike, jumps out of the plane in the clouds, has to hook up on a French man's room in melee, runs over the rooftops of London skyscrapers, climbing rocky cliffs and mounts wells. The big confrontation ends with a spectacular helicopter chase in the mountainous Kashmir landscape. Especially impressive: Cruise did most of the stunts themselves.
