(dpa) Microsoft boosted sales and profits with its buzzing cloud business. In the fourth fiscal quarter (at the end of June), the annual surplus of nearly ten percent to $ 8.9 billion, as the software company Redmond announced in Seattle on Thursday after the market closed American. Software products also experienced significant growth, particularly the online version of the Office 365 desktop program, where demand continued to climb 38 percent. Even in the classic PC division with the Windows operating system, it was surprisingly round – here sales rose 17 percent to $ 10.8 billion. This activity still generates most of the revenue, but has temporarily become a brake pad.
For the full year, Microsoft increased its revenue by 14% to $ 110.4 billion. On the other hand, net income has plummeted from $ 25.5 billion to $ 16.6 billion due to a high special charge stemming from US tax reform. In contrast, adjusted operating income increased 21% to $ 35.1 billion. "We had an amazing year," said Microsoft boss Nadella.
