When the semi-finals of the Under-21 Europe Championship started in Denmark seven years ago, Yann Sommer and Tomas Vaclik met, one guarded the Swiss gate, the other that of the Czechs. Summer has prevailed with Switzerland as Admir Mehmedi scored the only goal in stoppage time, and Vaclik remained the loser.
Together with Spaniard David de Gea, they formed the Allstar team goalkeeper trio of this tournament. And three years later, the trajectories of the two guards crossed again. Sommer had become a great figure at FC Basel, having had memorable moments with victories in the Champions League against big English teams. He had become a favorite of the crowd – and left the club heading for the Bundesliga.
Vaclik, who had meanwhile returned to Sparta Prague, took control of the Sommer locker at the FCB. After four years, he now leaves Basler for Spain
The Czech national government left Basel training camp in Rottach-Egern on Tuesday and signed a three-year contract with Sevilla FC Wednesday after the medical visits. Vaclik has repeatedly spoken of his desire to move to the English Premier League, playing in Spain next season in another of the top five leagues in Europe.
In Basel, unlike Sommer or Franco Costanzo, Vaclik did not give him much pleasure. But along with its predecessors, it has been sure asset for four years, which has also given the team the necessary support on the international level.
169 times Vaclik played a competitive match for Basler. The highlights of the Champions League with a win and a draw against Liverpool in his first season and more recently with five wins in eight games under Raphael Wicky. In addition, he won three league titles and the 2017 historic cup against FC Sion.
The FCB loses three regulars, YB two substitutes
The compatriot Vaclik Marek Suchy loses a friend and FC Basel a cautious player with leadership qualities. From the current team only Taulant Xhaka is longer with her, so goes with Vacliks also leaving a lot of lost routine. With the same change, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Michael Lang Vaclik form a trio whose elimination could hardly be more important.

The transfer window is open up to # August 31st. Currently, the Young Boys, with whom Basler wants to fight for the 2018/19 championship, have registered the departure of two substitutes. These meet just 363 minutes of use in the Super League. Vaclik, Lang and Elyounoussi were meanwhile indispensable forces under Raphael Wicky, cumulatively they were in the domestic league for 9145 minutes on the field.
FC Basel wanted to keep his team together as possible. However, he lost just under a third of the starting liners of the 2017/18 season. At Elyounoussi Southampton Premier League was too good. Lang, now 27 years old, did not want to deny the athletic direction the dream of the foreign league. And Vaclik won the transfer in four years to the FCB
Successor Omlin: Of the error to Lucerne goalkeeper succeeded
The successor of Vaclik seems already clarified. In Jonas Omlin FCB found a substitute in the Super League. After 15 appearances as a lender in the Challenge League at FC Le Mont and 51 Super League matches for Lucerne FC, the 24-year-old has signed a contract until 2022 with FC Basel.
In fact the number 2 behind Vaclik, the 190-centimeter goalkeeper is likely to become the No. 1 Basel Gate.

At least, the development of Omlins in Lucerne can be proud: He celebrated his debut in 2015 in the match against FC Basel and made a mistake of the coarser variety. After that, he again took the role of substitute goalkeeper and was on loan to the Challenge League. Two years after his first match in the Super League, Omlin finally replaced the legend of Lucerne goalkeeper David Zibung and became number one.
With Omlin, FC Luzern finished the season in third place with the league's fourth-best defense. 19659020] https://tageswoche.ch/form/interview/tomas-vaclik-ich-war-zerstoert-wir-alle-waren-zerstoert/
