The leader of the industry is not always the best – business

[ad_1]

It would be a euphemism to refer to Comparis as one of the leading Swiss comparison portals. The industry leader leaves the competition far behind with an estimated 90% market share. The website is one of the most used in Switzerland with up to 80 million visits a year. The competition comes only on a fraction of it. However, despite its exceptional size and popularity, Comparis does not yet offer the best service in all areas, comparing comparative service fairs.

Health Insurance

Comparis has long been known as a guide to health insurance premiums. The details of a family of fictitious samples can be easily entered into the system. The results are then displayed as a ranking in a selection – the cheapest cash register first. By default, however, the interested parties will only see the funds with which Comparis has a contract and which receive a commission for the clients.

Although it is possible to change the view in two steps, a number of visitors may not have that they should go from "standard" to "full view". In the example used, a family would not have found the cheapest offer if it had stayed with the standard view.

The user also receives different views in the bonus comparison service, widely used in Western Switzerland, and in Anivo. The latter is an insurance broker offering unlimited advice on his website.

Hardly anyone compares mortgage interest rates.

Other comparison portals like Moneyland, Verivox, Jungle Compass and Swupp appear on the Priminfo state platform. But here too, there is a decisive difference. When there are health insurance contracts for agency fees, this is indicated by colored buttons such as "free quote". This leads directly to the quote request, while for unmarked offers, the consumer must search for the Internet address himself. This is the case of Moneyland, Verivox and Jungle Compass.

Swupp goes even further: the offer, which gives the comparison portals a fee of about 40 francs, is completely eliminated. Instead, consumers can sign up directly with any health insurance company for basic insurance. The address should only be entered once – the termination letter can be printed at the same time.

Mobile Rates

In addition to health insurance premiums, consumers often compare telecom rates. Here, the Jungle Compass portal has the advantage. It began in 2012. Oliver Zadori laid the foundation stone of his individual business with a thesis. With Jungle Compass, consumers can set the most criteria. With a subscription, for example, use abroad with the number of calls, the data volume and the country selection can be considered. Similarly, rates are recorded in combination with the Internet subscription or digital TV home. Despite the complex catalog of criteria, a simple and intuitive search is possible. Bonus and Verivox are similar to Jungle Compass and offer users the means to find a suitable and affordable offer.

Comparis chooses a coarser grid: Those who want to compare prices can choose between several categories, such as "middle user" and a few others. Not taken into account are the SMS. They are sometimes important because SMS are often not included, especially in prepaid packages and can cause unpleasant surprises in the bill.

In comparison, the remaining suppliers disappear. Anyone interested in Moneyland can at least download a PDF file with a free comparative overview. Soon, though, a computer for mobile rates will also be activated, promises CEO Benjamin Manz. Already today, users can compare roaming rates

Mortgages

Those who buy a home want to know what mortgage interest rates offer banks. However, this service offers almost no comparison portal. Comparis only requires the coordinates that it transmits to its sister company Hypoplus. If you sign up, you will be asked for a personal consultation, which involves finding a mortgage. Hypoplus wins with a commission. Verivox and Bonus manage the same thing.

Only Moneyland perceives the role of a comparison portal among the providers mentioned here. After a few entries for funding, it quickly and easily lists a selection in a ranking list. Moneyland compares 120 products from about 50 banks or insurance companies. You can see the key rates and the savings advantage in absolute terms. Of course, these numbers are not always binding. In particular with higher key rates, customers can negotiate better terms depending on the bank and their financial situation.

Autosurance

Comparis is the best auto insurance company. The request is a bit expensive. But this is necessary because many vehicle details are needed to calculate premiums seriously. Verivox, Bonus and Anivo offer a similar comparison. Comparis brand with additional services: useful tips on administrative issues, additional information about financing, a model letter of termination, insurer satisfaction ratings or a tool that reminds you to cancel your insurance on time . Comparis also addresses the new insurance model "Pay How You Drive". The amount of the premium is calculated according to the driving style. The basis of this is a device that determines the driving data.

Moneyland, Jungle Compass and Swupp have no comparison for auto insurance. But Moneyland will soon open a matching offer, as CEO Benjamin Manz says.

Conclusion

The selection of questions reflects only a limited selection of Swiss comparison portals offer. But that suffices for the following conclusion: Comparis is far from being better than the competition in every respect. By this means consciously also uses the weaknesses of the industry leader to offer consumers a more attractive offer there.
