Soon, it will start again: the Blue Balls are at the door. Around 100,000 visitors are expected every nine days in Lucerne. The majority of them is bustling around the lake. Apart from the two KKL concert halls, many other program points also take place. 120 in numbers, expect the organizers. Keep track: Impossible. We try to shed light on the program's jungle and give some tips along the way. All this is free with the pin of the festival (twenty francs).

20. July, KaiL Baxley, KKL forecourt, 6:00 pm:

While KKL Seven opens the festival, KaiL Baxley plays outside. The American swallows rock, blues, soul and a hint of gospel to interpret hot and dark songs. The former amateur boxer exchanged boxing gloves for the guitar. He scores sparingly and in the songs is a big dose of melancholy. Music that requires attention and merit.

21. July, XamVolo, Pavilion, 8:00 pm:

It's Jazz, it's Soul, it's hip-hop. The English XamVolo mixes many different styles to a very clean sound. Although it uses the history of music, it sounds very modern, partly thanks to the electronics. And rather cool. The 24-year-old has a lot of potential, as suggested by his music videos.

July 22, Meeting with the Artist, KKL Auditorium, 7:00 pm:

Many things do not change at the Blue Balls. There is a small change this year: for the talk show "Meet the Artist", you no longer need a ticket (free). The lapel pin or a daily ticket for the KKL are sufficient. In this talk show, Hannes Hug interviews artists in a relaxed and fun way every day, the same evening. With a little luck, you will experience KKL stars firsthand before getting on stage.

23. July, Liniker and Os Caramelows, Club Schweizerhof, 23:00:

Liniker e Os Caramelows shows how Brazilian music can sound. The group around a transgender soul singer groove and balance. But it's far from the sound of innumerable salsa parties. The Latin groove is still audible, but integrated into a motor assembly. The band has a lot of power even in moments of calm and has strong musicians.

24. July, Eric Clapton Life in 12 Bars, KKL Auditorium, 21.00:

The documentary traces the life of the legendary guitarist. How he found the music, how he fell into the drug and especially how he escaped from them. Clapton often struggled with his demons, always swinging between genius and madness. At Blue Balls, you can watch the film ruthlessly honest every day. More than a variant of bad weather.

25. July, Southern Avenue, Pavilion, 20.00:

This band is actually all it takes to deliver a successful belvedere concert. Rock, soul and blues meet, served groovy and with a very charismatic singer. Gushing guitar solos, loud bass and dynamic drum parts have it too. And most importantly, Americans have an audible joy to play. It's contagious.

27. July, The Weight, Pavilion, 20.00:

If you want to learn about bands today, do it on Youtube. And the weight have a big business card there. His "Trouble" clip is just awesome. They put in all kinds of covers of well known rock records. It sounds like its own rock from the 1970s and 1980s. Many of their models are clearly audible and everything is presented with the necessary eyeball.

27. July, Count Gabba, Schweizerhof Plaza, 18.00:

During the last three days of the festival, our favorite cowboy from Lucerne plays in front of the Schweizerhof. Count Gabba traverses a musical landscape of America, country, rock and pop. Of course, always with a cowboy hat on his head. Count Gabba will also take some "friends". As one or the other familiar face of the Lucerne music scene can appear. And if you close your eyes, you think you are in the meadow instead of Lake Lucerne.

28. July, Black Water County, Schweizerhof Club, 23:00:

The last night, you should still speed up. The ideal conditions to deliver the Black Water County of England. There, punkriffs meet Celtic influences. From ballad to ska-number stronger, almost everything can be found in the band's repertoire around singer Shannon Byrom. This is not particularly moving, but just the thing to dance again last night and consume one or the other alcoholic drink.
