Goma – Since the beginning of the month, at least 12 people in northeastern Congo have succumbed to an unknown disease whose symptoms resemble those of Ebola hemorrhagic fever .
Near the city of Mangina, about 30 kilometers to the west of the city of Beni, said today the high official Donat Kibwana. The symptoms observed included fever, diarrhea, vomiting and nosebleeds

Blood samples were sent to a regional laboratory for examination, Kibwana explained. The Ministry of Health of North Kivu Province reported that a team of local and international specialists was going to Mangina.
Last week, Congo and the World Health Organization announced the official end of the recent Ebola outbreak. The epidemic was located in the Equatorial Province near the town of Mbandaka – about 1500 kilometers west of Beni.
The Ebola virus is one of the most dangerous pathogens in the world. During a devastating epidemic in 2014 and 2015, more than 11,000 people died in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
