‘System Shock’ remake to land this summer after five years of torture

After almost five years of development, System shock finally comes out. In an update on the project’s Kickstarter page, developer Nightdive Studios announced plans to release its remake of the 1994 PC classic sometime in “late summer 2021”. Not only can you pre-order the title today (on and on), there’s a new demo to check out.

Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios, said the demo represents a “full” version of the game. To that end, you will be able to see the remake’s new real-time lighting and dismemberment systems in action. The studio has since also added new voices, more detailed environments, and a new system that will dynamically change the game’s soundtrack when you enter combat. There is also an additional cyberspace element that will allow you to hack open doors on Citadel Station. The hope is that the demo will allow people to “understand exactly what they will get if they pre-order”.
