T-Mobile is preparing to raise prices for subscribers who have taken advantage of its 'Netflix On Us' promotion: the mobile operator will start charging an additional $ 2 per month to the existing Netflix promotion.
Consumers will see their bill increase from 6/2. Those who want to avoid price increases can opt for the new T-Mobile mobile plan called Magenta. They will continue to get Netflix for free, but with a degraded level. T-Mobile allows Magenta customers to access Netflix's standard "basic" bundle, which also includes only one device stream at a time. Previously, customers could access Netflix HD with two free simultaneous streaming plans.
T-Mobile introduced for the first time its free Netflix offer for unlimited family packages in September 2017. The carrier benefits from a wholesale discount on the retail price of Netflix. However, T-Mobile's chief operating officer, Mike Sievert, said at the time that it was not a significant discount, adding that the Netflix promotion represented "a significant investment" for the carrier.
