Six things to know about Friday's game …
1) The Mets took a 1-0 lead early in the first run and could no longer show up. Wilson Ramos led in Robinson Canó with a single out of two. The Mets had three hits in the first run, but only four hits in the last eight innings and zero hits in the sixth to eighth.
2) They made things interesting in the ninth. Michael Conforto hit a first single in the ninth Josh Hader followed by a Ramos walk. J.D. Davis, Todd Frazier and Amed Rosario then all went out to end the game.
3) They made Brandon Woodruff throwing 34 shots in the first inning, but scoring only one point, they did not charge enough. After Jeff McNeil started the game with an infield single, the Brewers had a double strike Pete Alonso went down to swing. Cano walked, Conforto arrived on an inner single and Ramos stood out before Brandon Nimmo grounded to end the half-inning.
4) Steven Matz It was not at its best, but it did enough to keep the team in the game and did not receive support. Matz allowed three runs in 5.2 innings, allowing nine hits and a walk, while eliminating three. He threw 104 shots and gave two homers, a solo shot at Lorenzo Cain three throws in the first and a two-sleeve bomb to Ryan Braun in the fifth.
5) Robert Gsellman came in for Matz and allowed a 1.1-run hike, keeping the Mets in the game. Gsellman has been invited to get more than three outs in each of his last three appearances. He lowered his effective rate of return to 3.60.
6) Luis Avilán registered for eighth place but only faced three batters and left the game tight on elbow. Drew Gagnon finished the sleeve.
