Takeout after Thursday's win over the Reds while Noah Syndergaard does it all

[ad_1]

Noah Syndergaard did everything for the Mets Thursday afternoon at Citi Field while they were beating the Reds, 1-0, to win a division of their four-game series ..> Final Score

Five things to know about Thursday's game …

1) One day when the Mets counter was exhausted and Syndergaard needed a good start after struggling for a good part of the season, Syndergaard held off with a shutout when the Reds were completely dismantled. With his fastball exceeding 101 mph and featuring a mischievous curved ball, Syndergaard entered the ninth inning after withdrawing 15 of the last 16 batters to face him. He pulled out the first two batters before allowing a broken bat to Derek Dietrich. After Dietrich was pinched by pitcher Michael Lorenzen – who stole the second goal – Syndergaard withdrew Yasiel Puig to end the match.

2) In total, Syndergaard allowed four hits while walking a goal and hitting ten as he lowered his effective rate of return from 6.35 to 5.02. He launched 104 shots – 74 for strikes.

3) The only race of the game? This came courtesy of Syndergaard, who lambasted a solo circuit that landed deep in the seats of the left center field.

4) Dominic Smith got the start to first base, with Pete Alonso Replace him later as a batter-pincher when the Reds brought a southpaw. Alonso walked in his only plate appearance.

5) Reds Jesse Winker, who greeted the Mets fans derisively throughout the series, scored a 0 for 4 (including three strikeouts) and was ejected from the game in the ninth inning while he was discussing bullets and hit the plate.

6) The Mets only had four hits, one from Syndergaard, Robinson Cano, Michael Conforto, and Wilson Ramos.
