Talks resume between Cowboys and Lawrence

FRISCO, Texas – It seems that many things can change in a week.

About a week ago, Cowboys operations director Stephen Jones called the contract talks with DeMarcus Lawrence a "dead end". Lawrence seeking to become one of the highest paid defenders of the NFL, it was not really surprising to hear were taking time.

Perhaps the content of these discussions has changed, however. Rumors circulated on Friday that representatives of the Cowboys and Lawrence are communicating, while the two sides are exchanging figures and getting closer to an agreement.

This does not mean that an agreement has been reached. As far as it seems, no agreement has been reached – and as a result, Lawrence has no new deal. But while players on the franchise label do not usually work until the July deadline, there may be reason to be optimistic, the Cowboys could soon bring Lawrence back into the fold.

The month has been interesting since the club spotted the tag on Lawrence on March 5th. This is the second year in a row that the Cowboys have been using the tag on their Pro Bowl pass. The difference is that this year, Lawrence made it clear that he did not intend to play on the tag.

In 2018, Lawrence won a one-year, $ 17 million contract and delivered 10.5 Defense Bags, which ranked seventh in the Cowboys. If both sides reach an agreement quickly, it is a good bet that he will undergo surgery quickly to solve the problem in time for the 2019 season.

This will probably not happen before the signing of a contract. And although that has not happened yet, it seems like the Cowboys are working in that direction.
