TALLAHASSEE – Florida State wide receiver Tamorrion Terry no longer on the program, coach Mike Norvell announced Wednesday.
Terry had suffered a knee injury the past few weeks. Norvell did not specify why Terry left the program, but stated that Terry made the decision to leave the program.
A source close to Terry said earlier this week that Terry will be weighing all options, including returning to FSU in 2021, moving to another program or going pro.
Terry ends his FSU career with 2,221 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns from 2018 to 2020. The Ashburn, Ga native, nearby, has distinguished himself as one of the nation’s top wide receivers during his career at FSU after a red shirt season in 2017.
The quick 6-foot-4 receiver is considered one of the nation’s top deep threats, ranking in the National Top 15 in yards per reception the previous two seasons. Terry’s YPR average was down to 12.57 this season as he faced a nagging knee injury with sporadic play in the quarterback.
FSU, without Terry, was limited in the air. Terry ends the year as the FSU’s main receiver (23 catches, 289 yards, 1 TD) despite playing in just five games. FSU’s next main receiver is at a tight end Camren McDonald (248 meters), and only two more – Ontaria Wilson and Keyshawn Helton – have more than 100 receiving yards.
Redshirt sophomores such as Jordan Young and Warren thompson could see expanded roles with Terry gone, although we will most likely see an increase in playtime for freshmen Bryan robinson, Kentron Poitier and Darion Williamson.
