2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed: What to Expect

In addition to designing a plethora of historic vehicles and legendary sports cars, the UK's Goodwood Festival of Speed, July 12-15, 2018, will also feature highly anticipated production vehicles. Whether it is new or old, everything will go against the clock in the traditional rise of the event.

McLaren chose this year's Speed ​​Festival to unveil its new 600LT in a world premiere. The manufacturer's new sports car features a 600 horsepower V8 bi-turbo engine and a price of 232,000 €. Another car that debuts in the English countryside this year is the new Toyota Supra. It will however still be a prototype, the final version not being on sale until 2019.

Spectators will have the opportunity to discover the spectacular Bentley Bentayga, the most powerful SUV in the world. They will also be able to admire the Polestar 1 and the Tesla Model 3, models already known but not marketed in Europe until next year. A special edition of the Ford Mustang GT, paying tribute to American fighter pilots who served in the RAF during World War II, will also be at the event.

Two brands will celebrate their 70th birthday at Goodwood 2018. Porsche, for its part, will bring a host of models covering its history to the event, with a dedicated batch in the climb, while Land Rover will hold a parade of its models on more emblematic.
Time trial, pay attention to two cars that have already proven their record performance. The spectacular Volkswagen I.D. R is the new record holder of the prestigious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the US state of Colorado, and the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo recently broke the track record of the Nürburgring in Germany.

This year, for the first time, a fully autonomous and driverless car – the Robocar – will be demo at Goodwood. This single-seater has been in development for several years and will eventually compete in the race, in a championship parallel to the current Formula E.

As every year, an impressive roster of drivers heads to the event, Sir Jackie Stewart (who will drive several Tyrell cars), Emerson Fittipaldi (McLaren M23), Jenson Button (Honda RA301) and Mika Hakkinen (Mercedes), world rally champions – Walter Röhrl (Porsche) and Sébastien Ogier (Ford) Fiesta WRC) , the NASCAR "King" Richard Petty (Dodge), and the record holder of victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tom Kristensen (Audi R8). On two wheels, fans can expect to see Giacomo Agostini (MV Agusta), Randy Mamola (Ducati) and Freddie Spencer (Honda).
