A five-day international workshop on tsunami warning center operations and operational procedures for tsunami warning and emergency response will be inaugurated by Madhavan N. Rajeevan , Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences at the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), in Hyderabad on July 10.
Director INCOIS SSC Shenoi and other senior scientists will participate in the workshop that will involve more than 80 officials from 18 countries – Australia, Bangladesh, Comoros, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, United Kingdom and Yemen.
The training of those in charge of emergency maps, plans, procedures, meetings of the core teams who are dealing with tsunami warnings, etc., is part of the workshop. prelude to the ocean exercise of the 2018 Indian Ocean scheduled from 4 to 5 September in a press release, several countries, including India, will test tsunami readiness in real time.
