The chairman of the committee, William Ntinika, who serves as Mbeya District Commissioner, recently gave the directive on his tour to inspect the implementation of the projects.

He said that 800m / – were allocated to the construction of the health center of Ikukwa, Santiliya (500m / -) and Ilembo (400m /). He said the government requires all unspent funds released in the previous fiscal year to be returned by July 30.

"You have to work day and night to finish the job before the end of the month to avoid losing funds".

MP Mbeya Rural, Oran Njenza, said that despite the government's efforts to increase the number of health centers, there remained challenges of housing shortages for health workers. He called for additional funding for house building so that doctors and nurses stay close to health centers.

"We are faced with a shortage of homes for health professionals, some of whom are far from the centers, hence delays in services to residents," notes Njeza.

According to him, the government is likely to support the construction of houses, but only if the project is initiated by the villagers.

Ms. Ummy Mwalimu, Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Seniors and Children, recently declared to the National Assembly that this reduction was based on objectives missed in the implementation of the 2017/18 budget.
