HBO is still the name to beat when it comes to the prestige genre television and apparently, he has no intention of losing that title. The network teams up with Joss Whedon for a new series in a whimsical world of social norms and secret powers.

The Hollywood Reporter has, well, reported that HBO has Greened Whedon's The Nevers a series about a group of women in the Victorian era who are suddenly find themselves manifesting a number of strange superpowers. Naturally, women become the target of those who would harm them – and together they embark on a mission that could change the world.

In a public statement, Whedon describes The Nevers as "perhaps the most ambitious narrative I have created", which, although what it says in an ad on a show that they perform and write, is still quite interesting given his work.

There is still no word when The Nevers is ready to start production, who will be there, and when we should expect it.But seeing how HBO really engages in genre television with new upcoming shows like Lovecraft Country and Watchmen presumably the show will be broadcast to some in the not-too-distant future.
