Adobe: We bring full Photoshop to iPad
Bloomberg reports that Adobe is working on a full version of Photoshop that will work on the iPad. It is expected to announce it next October and to announce it by next year. Scott Belsky, product manager for Creative Cloud, has confirmed the multi-platform edition of Photoshop, although he has not provided a release date.
The iPad does not have a wealth of photo manipulation software. Even Adobe already has a bunch for the tablet, including a much simplified version of Photoshop called Photoshop Express. However, none of these mobile versions can claim to the level of functionality provided by the full version of Adobe software, which is why mobile-based competitors, such as Affinity Photo, have managed to conquer a significant portion of the market.
Edits On The Fly
According to the Bloomberg report, the decision to publish Photoshop on iPad is a strategy change for Adobe, which apparently seeks to encourage fans and casual users to try retouching Photo. However, business users are not lost in the company's radar. In fact, it is because of their repeated requests for "changes on the fly" that eventually convinced Adobe to consider wearing the full version on Apple's tablet.
Of course, Apple will certainly be more than pleased with this news, especially as this will reinforce the idea that its iPad is just as powerful as a standard PC. No matter how questionable this statement is, the fact is that the boundaries between computers and tablets are becoming blurred. Of course, a PC is probably the best choice when it comes to intensive tasks such as video editing and rendering, but for casual users, an iPad is probably enough – and with the full version of Photoshop on board, it may be perfect That said, it is unclear exactly how Adobe plans to implement the software for the iPad, because Photoshop works best with keyboard shortcuts and maneuvers performed with a trackpad or a mouse.
