Get ready for new takes on CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE PLANT, THE BFG, and more.
It's been a few hours since Netflix has announced a new ambitious addition to its lineup, but do not worry, there's still plenty of daylight. And according to the press release we just received, this next project is a real doozy.
So says the press release:
"Netflix and The Roald Dahl Story Company today announced that Netflix is expanding the world of Roald Dahl stories to the global family audience with a new selection of original original animation series, inspired by the best books. award-winning author and award-winning sales library, including Charlie and the chocolate factory, Matilda, The BFG, Twitsand many other beloved titles. "
Yes, that's right – Netflix is entering the Roald Dahl business and is committed to creating a new series of animated shows inspired by many of Dahl's best-known novels (obviously missing: The fantastic Mr. Fox and James and the giant peach).
They even created a little trailer to whet your appetite:

"Our mission, which is deliberately noble, is to ensure that as many children around the world as possible can experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl's stories. This partnership with Netflix marks an important step in this direction and is an exciting new chapter for Roald Dahl Story. I know Roald would be delighted.

- Billy and the Minpins
- The magic finger
- Esio Trot
- Dirty beasts
- Stew
It's a whole lot of equipment! Some of these elements have already been adapted (sometimes more than once!), But a good deal of them will be screened for the very first time. It is assumed that the aesthetics of these shows (which should come into production early next year) will try to reflect Dahl's singular style, but that may well be wishful thinking.
